April 2009
Oops, I Almost Forgot...
22 April 2009 - 13:03
There is so much stuff to write I don't even know what I should write and what I should skip. I've been pretty awful about keeping up with the blog lately. I guess it's a good thing nobody ever sees it, eh?
It has been a pretty crazy few weeks and I think it's only about to be crazier! Since it's easier to speculate about the future than it is to BS about the past, I will start there. This weekend I'm going camping with some Czech scout friends of mine in the mountains. After that, there are only FOUR weeks left before my sister comes.
On one of those weekends, I will be camping again at my favorite place in the entire world, Stara Voda. The rest of the time will be mostly free as, let's face it, class here is just a bit more serious than a joke. However, I still have to make the most of this time. It is so short!
When my sister arrives, at the beginning of June, we will be bouncing around Europe so fast our heads will spin. Then on the first of July, at 7:00AM, I will catch my plane from Prague to home... It will be such a sad day. In no way am I ready to leave. In all seriousness, I love the life here and not the constant drinking and partying. That's getting old, but everything else is WONDERFUL!
So, as for the past few weeks. I have been quite busy! Of the past five weeks, I've been in Brno for four of them. First I was in Krakow for a weekend and next in Brno. After, I was in Eastern Bohemia for a weekend and the next (Easter weekend) was spent in Prague. This past weekend I was in Slovakia, soaking up the astonishing beauty of the mountains. Time is sailing by so fast. It's just so unbelievable. I cannot grasp how quickly this semester has gone.
Now, I'm trying to make a plan for what needs to be done with what's left. First, I'm sipping down on a bottle of the good stuff - sweet tea, Kentucky style. Soon, I should be putting up my photos from the weekend in Slovakia (http://pics.RedHawk77.com/). Everything else is up to date there. I also really should start to consider these two essays I have to write within the next two weeks or so. I'd hate to wait until the very last minute to do that .

Privni Duben (The First of April)
01 April 2009 - 15:05
There won't be any April Fool's jokes here, but perhaps I will have the opportunity for a good one later. The day is still young!
As of the past few days, for some reason, I have felt like my Czech is pretty awesome. I'm not getting ahead of myself, I know I still suck at it. However, I am feeling that what little I do know, I know it quite well. So, ultimately, that means, I am getting better, a little more everyday.
That's the only really interesting thing that's been going on here. But, last night is also worth mentioning I think... I haven't been going out much at all lately and I certainly haven't been drinking as much as last semester. After me and some Americans did some work on our presentation, we headed down the hill to the best bar in all of Brno, Santana's. Of course, we had a few. It was great and then we went home.
I made it to my room, got in my bed and just as I was about to go to sleep, I decided that I needed to go out to "Favel" with everyone else. This was around 12:30/1:00-ish and at this point, I was comfortably "blitzed" but not quite drunk yet. I really thought it was a good idea for me to go and even more importantly, I had to convince my roommate to come with me, even though he was about to go to bed himself.
We all met up in the lobby and then went out. As we got outside, Daehong handed me a beer and we threw them back very quickly. Finally, after the looooong walk we got in just as they were stopping to take a cover charge, so that was nice. As soon as I could turn around, Daehong was bringing me another beer, which he killed very fast and then went back home, and I knew that it would be the turning point for me. I drank it slowly, but it certainly pushed me over into the drunk category. Hopefully, I didn't make an idiot of myself at any point. After that, it was beyond time for me to sleep, so I went home and went to bed.
For this coming weekend, which is fast approaching but not fast enough, is another excursion to East Bohemia. I had an amazing time last semester and considering how awesome everyone is this semester, I except the same this time too. I made a lot of good friends last time and I am hoping to do it again. There are a few people here that I've met, but haven't got to know much about them and that's what I'm here to do, to meet as many awesome people as possible. There are certainly some of those kind of people here now! Plus, the trip itself was nice and relaxing, and that's much needed right now.
For my next blog, I think I shall write something completely random and off the wall. Whoever leaves the best "topic" in the comments of this blog will decide what I write about next. So, think of something good!
